Built by developer and early city leader Charles Colcord, the Colcord building was Oklahoma City’s first skyscraper. Designed by architect William A. Wells, it was initially 12 stories tall, eventually climbing to 14 stories and 145 ft. Built in 1910, the Colcord building was originally an office building, but in 2006 was renovated and converted into a hotel. Interestingly, its next door neighbor to the west is the current tallest building in Oklahoma City, the Devon Tower.
