W.J. Gault

William James Gault (b. Washington County, N. Y. 1830 d. Oklahoma City 1899) was the fourth mayor of Oklahoma City. Gault was a brickmaker by trade, having worked in Kansas City, Mo. and El Dorado, Kans. before the land run. He reportedly served a term as mayor of El Dorado as well. He established a lucrative lumberyard after arrival in Oklahoma City. He was later elected to the Fourth Territorial Legislature. He was mayor from August 12, 1890 - April 12, 1892. W.J. Gault is buried in Fairlawn Cemetery.
