The 23 acre park located at 5333 S. Independence Avenue features a parking area, playground, and sport fields. The land was donated to the City of Oklahoma City by business man and innovator Sylvan N. Goldman. With his wife Margaret, the Goldmans donated large buildings and small statues and provided major support for education, the Oklahoma Blood Institute, and the arts and humanities. Syl Goldman Park is the site of soccer games and is a popular snow sledding location because the sport fields are slightly sunken below street level. In south Oklahoma City across Interstate 44 from the Will Rogers World Airport, Syl Goldman Park surrounds two oil wells and is adjacent to a utility plant.
